BroadLink e-Control 4+

I have had this app and the smart plugs for 12 months. This was one of the only apps that worked even after the clocks changed. However since the latest update at the weekend it doesn’t seem to be working very well at all. I like the WiFi plugs especially at this time of year as I hate coming home to a house in total darkness. Unfortunately today I came home to just such a scenario.

Since the latest update a few days ago the app has got even more unreliable and it was not that good to start, keep getting message saying “network not initialized” yet the rm pro and my ipad are both connected to my wifi, I am seriously thinking of returning the rm pro as I am still within 30 days. I have a simple setup with 2 timers per day where in the morning it opens the blind, in the evening it closes the blind, in 15 days it has only worked properly 10 times. The rm pro is 15 feet direct line of sight away from my router and 6 feet direct line of sight to the blind. Also be aware that there is no sunrise/sunset option so you will need to set a timer everyday with the times if you want this functionality, the scenes cannot be controlled by the timer either, the swiping to get to different pages does not work properly, as Alan Sugar would say “it’s a bloody shambles”

If you could tell Siri your saved phrase and according IR signal could be sent, that would just be an icing on the cake❗️ :)

App works faultlessly on all iPhones and iPads, on all iOS versions with RM Mini 3 for over 2.5 years now. Controlling all my frequently used IR devices, such as TV, home cinema system, speaker dock, works with IR controlled LED lights, IR toys, etc..

And the IR range on that device is spectacular, truly superb !

I use custom setup remotes with personalised icons, this way it works and looks best.

Really cannot fault the device or the app, although I only use local connection, without an account - meaning no controls outside local wifi.
But, that’s down to my choice.
