Description

The BEST has just got better! Acknowledged as the premier 'solo' Bridge app, you can now play a LIVE GAME in REAL TIME with your chosen partner against the robust Robots

BridgeAce has been developed by the same team which brought you iBridgePlus ten years ago - the app which consistently had the highest number of 5* reviews on the App Store, and which came top in most comparative tests against other Bridge apps. (Please don't just take our word for this - read the iBridgePlus reviews!)

The team is constantly looking to improve, and we are thrilled to launch BridgeAce, which takes 'solo' Bridge play to another level altogether:

• Ten years in development, by the team which brought you the 5* rated iBridgePlus app

• Superb International-standard Bridge Artificial Intelligence (AI) wrapped with an intuitive, clear, user-friendly interface

• Generous FREE period of use to test and evaluate the app

• NO ANNOYING ADS – transparent, flexible and affordable pricing structure with NO AUTOMATICALLY RECURRING SUBSCRIPTIONS

• Comprehensive ‘Hint’ and ‘Explain’ features to guide the beginner

• Powerful Bridge AI will challenge the expert player to the limit of their skills

• Play Rubber, Chicago, Teams or Duplicate * and now PLAY LIVE in REAL TIME with your chosen partner

• Unique ‘Memory Joggers’ feature **

• The AI can generate over 2.6 billion unique deals

BridgeAce is the ultimate ‘Solo’ Bridge app. You are always playing on your own, (that’s right … NEVER playing with or against another human) and you’re always partnered by, and playing against, the powerful AI.

• Select from one of the 22 built-in bidding systems, from the most basic to the highly complex and technical

• All the systems are fully documented (and printable) for easy reference

• All bids (and bid hints) can be explained on screen, on demand.

• Tweak, change, or totally redesign bidding systems using the ‘Alter My System’ tool.

* Playing Duplicate on BridgeAce is a unique, unpressurised experience. You are given a set of eight hands, to play on your device, with your AI partner North, playing against the AI East/West opponents, all using your chosen bidding system. The SAME set of hands are given to 7 other users, who will be playing them under the same conditions, on their devices. Therefore the only ‘variable’ in the match are the eight human South players. When the results are published, many of you will realise that you are not as bad as you made yourself out to be, while some of you will awaken to the fact that you are not quite as good as you thought :-)
All the results are completely transparent, and you can examine how every competitor bid, and played the hand.
Duplicate is totally anonymous – only your display name is shown, so no-one will know who was the person who went down three in the simple 1NT contract!! :-)

** Whatever age we are, we all suffer from those ‘senior moments'. Memory Joggers (MJ) is a feature available in all modes (restricted use in Duplicate) to help you remember the important salient facts about the hand. Imagine this. You’re at trick 8, and cannot remember …

• Has the Queen of Hearts been played yet? – There’s a MJ which will tell you exactly which of the Top Honour cards are still out.

• How many hearts are still out? – There’s a MJ which will show you how many cards are out in the four suits.

• How many HCP has East shown so far – There’s a MJ to show how many HCP each hand has shown so far, and indeed you can drill down and see which cards every seat has played so far.

Memory Joggers is the perfect tool to help you train yourself to memorise these important elements of a hand during play.

What else makes BridgeAce stand out from the crowd?

• App is packed with instructional documents and videos to guide and help you

• ‘My Hands’ – a feature which enables you to save, annotate and replay memorable hands

• ‘Info’ button on every page with useful information

• Bespokable interface – get the look and feel that pleases you most

• International sets of cards for our friends from around the globe

• ‘Night Mode’ to dim the screen (your bed partner will LOVE this!)

What’s New

Version 1.2.9.1

We're thrilled to introduce LIVE GAMES to the app. You can now play, in REAL TIME, with your chosen partner (you'll be playing as North / South) against the trusted robust Bridge Ace robots who'll be playing as East / West.

• No unfamiliar bidding systems and conventions - both you and the Robots will be using your chosen bidding system.
• No rude or aggressive 'sharks' - it's just you, your favourite partner, and the Robots
• No players flitting in-and-out of the game. The Robots will never quit the game
• The game format is a Teams game. You'll be 'competing' against a table of four robots, so you can compare your score against a 'par' of the computer
• And last but not least - at NO EXTRA CHARGE!! Live Games are FREE (You and partner will need a valid subscription or have hand-credits)

Concerns

It seems that hints do not always follow what I understand as basic ACOL. Additionally it seems that underbid recommendations are clearly showing the the computer is more aware of your partner’s holding than you could hope to be. An enjoyable app and improvement on ibridge. I also understand that it is extremely difficult to consider everything. A claim option would be helpful. I understand that fast play offers something similar.

Developer Response ,

Thank you ‘3 Seats’.
You are quite right about the ‘fast play’. However we are cognisant of user comments, and we are looking at implementing a claim option in the next update.

Acol bidding odd

I preferred iBridge Plus and used Alter My System to get a fair approximation of the conventions that I would normally play. The number of configurable items seems reduced on Bridge Ace + and there are more hard coded options which give rise to some very strange Acol responses as noted by other reviewers. The AI engine is ridiculously aggressive in some situations particularly when the Robot has very few points and there is no suit match - resulting in disastrous contracts. There is nothing here that can’t be fixed but please look a bit harder at the Acol standard responses. Two convention changes that would be really helpful would be the inclusion of the McKendrick response to a 1NT opening and a switch to turn of the Josephine bid. Greater ability to turn conventions on or off would solve most of my grumbles which largely come from hard coding that can’t be changed by the user, leading to undesired bidding sequences. I know you need to achieve a balance between usability and configurable options but please see what you can do.

Hello Andy,

There are two recognised forums to communicate ones feelings and impressions about an app. This App Review is ideal for telling potential users what you think of the app in general - what you like or dislike about the app.

For specific problems, where a user expects to enter a two way conversation with the developers, then standard email to @support is the way to communicate.

Your review should be redirected to us by way of an email. We’ll happily respond with specifics.

Best site for acol.

I am relatively new to bridge having been taught eight years ago by an ebu tutor, and having kept up with the changes (weak two’s as basic acol), and this is the first site I have played on where I feel confident about the bidding. I have spent five years playing on another (extremely expensive site) claiming to offer acol, and despite carefully setting my bidding system to acol, it bore no resemblance to anything I had been taught, I’m not sure why I persevered for so long. The site is easy to navigate, has some really good features and above all we are on the same hymn sheet regarding the bidding.
