DogLife
I have been waiting for this game since it was teased. Checking the App Store and twitter for any news. Now I have been playing it since its release I’m glad to say I am not disappointed… Yes it gets dark in places but then so does life especially for animals. Yes a few things need tweaking and adding but this game is still in its infancy. Yes no one asked for this game but no one asked for a lot of really good games but they’ve still been hits! I feel that the developers have shown real initiative with this idea and I for one will not be whining. I have been looking for a decent pet simulator for a while and I think this game has potential. Thank you Candywriter for giving me another good game to add to my collection I am on board and I support this.
No magic in comparison to bitlife
Bitlife has been one of my favorite games since I first discovered it and that was roughly 4 years ago. Though not as complicated and graphically stimulating as other games like COD, it was a game that stuck with me. I believe that is due to the fact that there is a almost magical feeling to escaping reality in it. You can be who ever and do what ever when ever no matter how ridiculous. Dog life fails to capture that same magic, in itself its not a bad game. It just lacks that magical break from reality that bitlife holds, being a way more developed game with a lot more potential as well, and a game that you can associate and fantasize with. Dog life is fun, but it’s one of those games u spend 5 minutes on and then get tired of. I bought top dog to help support candywriter financially as I see that being the only reason they would roll out a game like this despite little support from their community and fan base. In future I hope they redirect their focus back to bitlife, and if they have creative issues or stagnate in the creative space I hope they can look to their community more as there a countless of amazing ideas.
More ideas and options!!
I love the game so far however a few thoughts:
- I would love some sort of consequence for misbehaving like being sent to a dog trainer! Maybe when you return home after however long, you are unable to misbehave for a certain amount of time so eg. They can’t run away or misbehave at the vets
- Taking dogs on walks: would be a great way to meet other dogs that you could potentially interact with when you meet them. And maybe meet them again if I’m the same neighbourhood? That way you could build a reputation with said dog.
- Cats: Depending on the country, it’s sometimes customary for cats to be indoor, outdoor or a mix. In fact it can vary from household. So for the cats that have “access” to the outside, again they could meet other cats in the neighbourhood.
- Horses: Despite being in BitLife, I do miss that we can’t play as horses or as other animals in this game. It could bring so much more to the gameplay however I do see how this could be difficult to execute
- All the breeds in BitLife aren’t in DogLife (I was hoping for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier): Again limits the sandpit element of DogLife
I do hope you read through this and consider some of the elements I have mentioned as I think they could make for really interesting game play!
Other than that, I do find some of the loading screens a bit quick/jarred at some points but it doesn’t bother me too much ☺️
