Defunct…

At first glance this app looks like an amusing way to ensure we get the right amount of exercise daily to maintain good health. But then the problem with this app arises, 10,000 steps daily is now defunct! The number of daily steps to maintain general fitness is now recommended as being 7,500, over that number of daily steps the health benefit gain is negligible… Of course exceeding 7,500 steps daily is not going to have a negative effect on our health but once 7,500 steps is achieved the return in maintaining general becomes academic. My health app on my iPhone is set to 7,500 steps as the daily goal and I always far exceed that, many days I accumulate 25,000 plus steps a day doing my job as a nurse. But I now know that once I’ve achieved 7,500 steps I’ve done enough to contribute to keeping myself healthy, the extra steps accrued aren’t wasted but their contribution to staying fit is negligible. So when my new friend the bear tells me I’ve achieved 7,500 steps I’ll say “great, thanks for telling me but the steps I take from now onward are steps I can’t avoid taking until it’s time for bed and definitely won’t be doing me any harm!

Doesn’t work properly

Claims to take its data from Apple Health but doesn’t match. I haven’t left the house today and it’s telling me I have 3,000 steps at 8am vs Health’s 250… suspect it’s aggregating over the wrong timeframe.

Love the style of these bear apps but they each have issues.
