First class listening experience

I have been using the Audrey app for over a year and it has made the biggest difference to my reading and listening experience this year. Each book brings glorious illustrations, excellent narrators but most importantly for me, a fascinating guide who provides comments, insights and a wealth of information and resources which inform my read. I am totally in love with the app and working my way through their collection. Favourites so far have been Sidhartha and Frankenstein which I would never read but for Audrey! Highly recommend! Update 2024. I have now listened to over 30 audiobooks and I think this app just gets better and better. A recent favourite has been Far From the Madding Crowd. I have learned so much through the guides to the audiobooks and ventured down many literary rabbit holes with their help!

Audiobooks with added value!

I heard about Audrey via social media and decided to check them out. At the moment they don’t have a ginormous library of audiobooks but they are adding new titles all the time. To me their focus seems to be on the classics of nineteenth and twentieth century literature. Unlike other audiobook providers Audrey adds extra value by including chapter recaps and a list of characters. And, best of all, they have a ‘guide’ who offers their views, questions, further reading, etc to give you more depth to your listening. There’s usually a bit of music too. I find the chapter recaps really helpful! Currently Audrey are running monthly read alongs which I like as you feel motivated to keep listening. The app is very easy to use and has some great illustrations. The books are very competitively priced and there is no annual subscription to tie you in to their service - the app is free, you only pay for the audiobooks. A great way to listen to some of those books you’ve always meant to read and - if you have already read them - learn a bit more about the novel. I do listen to audiobooks from other providers but I really admire Audrey’s approach.

Great for English teachers

I teach English in a UK secondary school and I always try to listen to the books I teach on Audrey to get broader context and perspectives that aren’t always available in other resources. I also recommend it to students, whether or not they struggle with reading, because the performances (especially the full-cast ones, like A Doll’s House!) often give so much more of the book’s feeling and meaning than just reading in your head - especially when there’s antiquated language. Really hope they keep adding more books on the curriculum!
