Amsterdam The Map 4+

Great app, easy to use with a detailed map and gps location facility. Would be useful to include directions from location to destination as the map only shows direct route. Also, would like a search facility to type in the names of places rather than having to find them in the lists provided. The information about the places was useful especially where opening times were included. Would use this again and would recommend getting the paid version to make best use of it.

At first after downloading this map, it seemed not to work. There were no street names and the map had overlays. It was uninteractive.
However, after reloading it a short time later, it worked great! So be patient after downloading it. It will work ....eventually. & it will work well.
The in-app purchase is a must. Totally worth every penny. Even a 'legal' stoner like me cannot get lost there. Not only that but it works seamlessly without the need for wifi.
Despite as I mentioned earlier about the app not opening properly in the beginning, I still rate this app 5 stars as it works so well.
Oh one more thing, the app gives you 3 days free to start with, so if visiting Amsterdam for three days or less, you can download the app just before leaving and use it for free!

I learned of this app from a magazine in out hotel. This app gives you everything you need for a successful trip to Amsterdam. It shows you where you are exactly, loads of points of interest nearby and draws a route to follow. It shows what trams to catch, information about museums, where the nearest coffee shop is when you are gasping for a caffeine hit.

I would only recommend the paid for app because for such a tiny price it is like having a personal tour guide on the phone and doesn't need a data connection to work. I don't understand how it does it but it made our trip to Amsterdam a real pleasure knowing exactly where we were, where we were going, how we where getting there and what we would find when we got there!
