Twistedly tantalising

This game draws you in with the survival aspect, and the more you play the more you discover the true depth of it, the unassuming change you breeze through and don’t even realise what you’ve become - gamers generally will do whatever it takes to complete a game, and their morality isn’t questioned because the developers gave you the option to do said morally grey things - this game not only gives you the option to but encourages you to grow your village, optimise production and such, but it also shows you the consequences, ‘people’ suffering because of your direct action, something a lot of games wouldn’t include or atleast wouldn’t focus on. those consequences and story depth like this are exactly what people love to play; a story with a twist, something that makes you question yourself. But that’s fine, because it’s just a game, right? No one would do that in the real world, where there are no resets, no take-backs, etc. Right?

OR WOULD THEY. DUN DUN DUNNNN. Seriously, this game is amazing, would recommend.

Good port but I did prefer the web based version

Just completed it on IOS having played the web version before. It's quite different and well worth the couple of quid. With that said, I have to admit I found the web version which I played on my PC more immersive. I think, in part, that is due to the idle elements of the game fading away on a phone as I don't leave it running like a browser window, also, some adjustments have been made to the IOS gameplay, probably for that reason which may have effected that - it is though one of those games with a lot of surprises on the first play-through so maybe I was just missing that excitement. There's something about the fonts and clean graphics on the iphone version that I personally don't find as immersive as the chunky old web based look, but, likewise that's not a major gripe. All in all, a superb game though I would probably say I preferred the web-based version and you may consider playing that first.

Captivating and worth every second

This is a brilliantly executed text-based game. As the developer mentioned in the commentary, they were focusing not on 'outer appearance, but inward significance', and that was exactly what I as the end user experienced. What started out to be simplistic tasks such as gathering wood and meat without much knowledge of anything else would, over time, turn into a story of a growing community trying to stay alive in what seems to be a post-apocalyptic world / some No Man's Land.

The story develops slowly, and the more you progress, the more you discover what is happening, and how you have to kill or be killed. From the beginning, it is beautifully set in a bleak tone, and it only becomes darker & more intense as you go along.

I didn't regret my purchase & would recommend it to those who like to immerse themselves in their imagination to boost the imagery of text based games. Kudos to the developers!
