3D Escape game : Chinese Room 4+

I have played most of the games from this developer as a big fan of the point and click genre. On the the whole they get things right. Some puzzles are little left field to suss the solution but it all works and they have even woven story elements in.

The change to 3D in this instalment is very impressive though. Although a much shorter game (no doubt due to the hours involved in making) the design is beautiful and the movements seamless. It takes some getting used to but when you have got the hang of it is a very pleasurable gaming experience. Minimal ads between levels are also a selling point as opposed to others in the genre where there is an ad a click.

My only disappointment was that I completes it so quickly. Looking forward to more of these in the future.

So I was not sure what to expect as many games don’t live up to the standards of the room, particularly free ones.

This game is enchanting, beautiful, calming and has great puzzles. The ambience is so appealing I still can’t believe it was free! Took me a couple of days of tea breaks and sofa time to complete. I played on iPhone 12 so sound and graphics were good but I imagine a little easier on an ipad as there are some smaller details that stumped me as I couldn’t quite see them.

Brilliant effort. Can’t wait for more

I enjoyed this game because it was a similar feel to the House of Da Vinci game although a lot less of it and not quite on the same level. Played on an iPad Pro. Age 4+? I don’t think so. The transitions between solving a puzzle and the game taking you to the next step were painfully slow at times, I heard myself saying “hurry up” a few times and it probably took up a lot of the game time. No dialogue or clues to what you are supposed to do and no real story but I had an idea from playing similar games which helped. Overall, I enjoyed it because I like the atmosphere of these type of games and the 3D nature, and it has potential, but it was just a little too short and easy for me, I like a challenge. Thanks for making it a free game, it makes a difference and out of curiosity I will look out for more from the developer to see what else they have done.
