Le Pole Trail brings you on a journey through the history of Dublin, from its beginnings as a Viking settlement to when this quarter of the city teemed with tenement life in the late nineteenth century.

In 1981 Le Pole Square was the site of one of Dublin’s largest archaeological excavations, uncovering a wealth of artefacts that help to paint a picture of the city’s earliest years. Examples of these can be seen inside the hotel today.

As part of this experience you will meet a host of colourful characters typical of different periods in Le Pole Square’s history – a brave Viking, a quintessential Dublin policeman, or a homesick Italian mother.

Using latest trends in mobile technology this trail lets you recreate what this quarter of Dublin would have looked like at various stages in its history. A combination of AR, 3D simulations and bespoke video, bring the story of Le Pole Square to life.
