Version 9.4.0
Today’s update is mostly maintenance, but we do have some nice things too. First, we have a UX update for Commenting, we now display in the comments if the commenting conversation is closed, anyone trying to post a comment after it’s closed would not see their post and no feedback as to why. Secondly we have some UI updates sprinkled around the app, these include new icons and better uses of colour. We’ll be back with more in the future release.

Censorship
The censorship in the comments section is beyond ridiculous.
Poor
comments very poorly moderated and also compared to other national newspapers. Seems to be largely an automated service. No moderator to contact with any issues. It is not possible for any type of meaningful discussion on this site and DE show no interest. Even if posters make well reasoned contributions and try to weed out bad and abusive comments by reporting them their own account is blocked and sometimes without warning. I could raise other points with constructive criticism but I feel it is a waste of my time. App deleted. The quality of the articles is so poor this publication is no longer worth reading. Cf very negative Trustpilot reports. Be aware, if your account is suddenly disabled without warning, and you are in receipt of an abusive comment, you have no means of defending your position and no recourse to moderation. For posters that is an unacceptable position. You just turn readers away.

On a final note, you ask readers to report comments which do not confirm to the community rules. I have reported those which are either abusive, or offensive to myself or to other readers, or are meaningless banter, entirely off topic and a clear distraction to the conversation. Moderators obviously agree as they deactivated these comments. However, in doing so at the same time they have deactivated my ability to comment which I take as totally unjust and an affront.
