Trash Panda is a free food scanner app that makes understanding ingredient labels easy. Find your good while grocery shopping just by scanning a barcode to see if foods have potentially harmful ingredients. Trash Panda helps you identify potentially sketchy ingredients so you can find good stuff for you and your fam. Scan as many products as you like for free, or upgrade to our Membership for additional features.
It’s super easy, just:
- Scan any food barcode to see the list of potentially harmful, questionable, added sugar or bioengineered ingredients.
- Tap on each ingredient to understand its health impact, backed by scientific studies.
- No barcode? No problem. Just snap a pic of the ingredients list and Trash Panda can gather insights, instantly.
- Search by product to see top-rated products based on keywords.
- Find clean-ingredient alternatives from high-quality brands and get exclusive discounts.
- Create custom shopping lists for you and your fam.
Trash Panda is free to use for scanning up to 5 products per month for checking ingredient labels. If you're interested in supporting Trash Panda's mission to increase access to healthy food, we offer a yearly subscription called the Trash Panda Membership.

INGREDIENTS WE FLAG
Currently, we flag over hundreds of ingredients in our database as potentially harmful or questionable. All of these flagged ingredients are backed by scientific studies and include all names for added sugar, natural flavors, artificial flavors, food dyes, chemical additives, inflammatory oils, gums and more. By identifying these additives in your food, you can truly make an educated choice based on your needs—giving you confidence and transparency in your grocery shopping experience. Our product and ingredients library is continuously updated with the latest research and information.

Triggered Junk Food Loving Karens Beware
If you are the type of person who gets triggered and defensive when you are faced with the reality of negative impacts certain ingredients have on your health and body’s ability to function properly, this is not the app for you. If you are looking for studies funded by big food conglomerates to justify your junk food addictions and unwillingness to part ways with harmful chemical filled “food” products, this is not the app for you. You are more than welcome to use a different app. This app will provide a breakdown of ingredients and how they can affect your body and health, and these facts are backed up by scientific studies. I am very pleased with this app and hope they will add more products to their database in the future!
Don’t waste your time
This app is a fear mongering attempt to label foods as harmful that is not backed by science. Total scam and in the process of reporting to get it taken down.
Love the concept
Love the concept of this app, but I’ve scanned a handful of common things and nothing is in the database. I also signed up for the free trial, gave my payment info through apple and it will still not recognize that I have a membership so I can’t see any “premium lists”… also there’s no way to go back and see what you’ve just scanned so if you have to add things in every single time because the database is flawed, it’s quite impractical and irritating. Wish it worked better because I love the idea.
