Pin Drop has a long history and a period when things were quiet, but they developers are on it again and have rebuilt it from the ground up.
There’s a lot of activity and updates with new features and extra quality being added all the time. It’s fun to see what they keep adding in every release!
I personally use it to track all of the places I’ve ever been on different trips, or my own city, and love the ability to add multiple tags to pins. Examples of my tags include:
- Business
- Vacation
- Camping
- Hikes
- Amusement Parks
- Camping
- Hotels
- Restaurants
- Ski Resorts
- and more!
It’s great when I return to a city years later and wonder, “was this the hotel I stayed at last time?”, “where was that great restaurant?”, “Have I hiked this trail before?”, “what customers did I meet at this location last time?”.
Enjoy - I love this app!
Love the idea of pin drop, UI has issues
Maybe the most glaring of which is you can’t search your own pins! You could do that in the old pin drop! You also used to be able to toggle which tags were shown, now the only option is all of them.
Finally, with no website, how do I back up my pins to my computer? Forgive me if I don’t have much faith in Pin Drop not losing all my tags like they did when they shut down last time. It seems like the devs have already abandoned the app shortly after putting it back on the app Store.
Needs work.

You can now export your data from the app so you can now backup to your computer.

Not user friendly
For example: search for a place. There’s one down the road.
Response: here’s a bunch an hour away
Can I search for nearer or get more results
Response: No. this all you get
Can I set a default area or maybe search around my location?
Response: No. you want these ones an hour away.

Hi there, I assume you're talking about the re:Quest feature? I couldn't see any searches from Canada coming through the past 7 days. Maybe you don't have location services enabled which means it doesn't know where you are. Is there any chance you could email hello@pindropapp.com with some more information so we might be able to see what's going on? Thanks!
