Needs more data smoothing
This looks like a great mapping app. I used it for several cross country ski trips and liked the features and function. However, I notice “jitter” in the tracks where the GPS position jumps to the side for one point by 10 metres or so before resuming the correct track. The same is true, and at larger scale, for the vertical positions. This position jitter gives inaccurately large totals for the trip distance and vertical gain. I’ve written GPS apps myself and know that selecting the right amount of smoothing to apply to raw GPS data is hard (you typically need more for the vertical data than you do for the horizontal). I suggest that the developers look at increasing the strength of the filtering applied to the raw position data. If that was fixed I’d rate the app as 5 stars.
