Great tool for parents
Fantastic app to help parents put up some guardrails as they teach their kids safe Internet habits. Gives us great peace of mind for a really affordable price.
The only slight downside (and hence only 4 stars): the app is sometimes overly restrictive in blocking content. For example, even harmless selfies my daughter tries to send me on Facebook Messenger are systematically blocked, despite many attempts to resolve the problem. Slightly annoying, but I’ll happily take overly restrictive rather than the reverse :)

Can’t get it off my phone
This is a parent that tried our canopy, and found it wasn’t what we were looking for, as it uses a USA VPN, and that changed a lot of stuff for us in Canada.
However, after uninstalling correctly and cancelling my account, a year later all of a sudden my kids’ phones were being ‘monitored’ by canopy again. And now I cannot take it off as I don’t have an account anymore, and the kids’ phones can’t even do a reset with out the parents account permission. Now these phones are not able to download apps that the ‘parent’ account would have had to give permission for…but I can’t give permission for as I don’t have an account.
I was in contact with customer support, and at first they were great, emailing me back right away. Until I got transferred to the experts department and a few emails in, they went cold. No replies, I’ve sent quite a few emails, and no response. I’m left with 2 phones that I can’t download apps on, and I can’t do a hard reset on. This has been going on for awhile now and we all are getting sick of ‘canopy’-even when we don’t have it!!!!
Doesn’t work as intended
While using canopy I found it blocked apps that I didn’t want blocked (google maps would trigger the canopy pop up and then you have to wait for it to close before you can use maps again. I had maps set to unfiltered so canopy shouldn’t have even been acting on this application) and I also found out that it was spotty, and at certain points apps that I did have blocked (Facebook, chrome) could be accessed. I deleted it and am now using a different free software for parental controls.
